Terms of Service

These terms are a contract between you and LectureParse. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use LectureParse — but before you walk away, email us; if something here seems unreasonable, we’d like to know.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.

LectureParse turns your lecture slides and documents into structured study materials: interactive lessons, summaries, cheatsheets, practice questions, and an AI chat that answers questions about your content. You upload documents, our AI processes them, and the results live in your library. We’re constantly improving the service, which means features may be added, changed, or occasionally retired.

You need an account to use LectureParse, and you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to create one. You’re responsible for what happens under your account, so:

• Give us accurate account information and keep it up to date
• Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself — accounts are personal and not for sharing
• Tell us right away if you suspect someone else has accessed your account

You own the documents you upload. We claim no ownership over your content — ever. By uploading, you give us the limited permission we need to operate the service: to store your documents, process them with our AI providers, and display the results back to you. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the limited retention described in our Privacy Policy.

You’re responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Lecture slides are typically the intellectual property of your instructor or institution — uploading them for your own personal study is generally what these materials are for, but redistributing them (or the materials we generate from them) beyond personal use may violate your institution’s policies or copyright law.

Lessons, summaries, cheatsheets, and chat responses are generated by AI. We work hard to make them accurate and grounded in your documents, but AI makes mistakes — it can misread a slide, oversimplify a concept, or occasionally state something confidently and wrongly.

You’re free to use the study materials generated from your documents for your personal learning. AI output is not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.

Use LectureParse for studying. Don’t use it to:

• Break the law or infringe anyone’s intellectual property rights
• Upload malicious files or content designed to harm the service or other users
• Probe, overload, scrape, or disrupt the service, or access it with automated tools without our permission
• Reverse engineer the service or attempt to extract our source code or underlying models
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the service or the materials it generates
• Share your account or circumvent plan limits

We may suspend or remove content or accounts that violate these rules. When it’s reasonable to do so, we’ll warn you first.

LectureParse is built to help you understand your course material, not to do your coursework for you. You’re responsible for following your institution’s academic integrity policies, including any rules about the use of AI tools. If your institution restricts AI assistance for certain work, those rules apply to your use of LectureParse too.

LectureParse offers free and paid plans. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.

• Cancel anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your paid features until then, and you won’t be charged again.
• Price changes. If we change prices, we’ll give you notice before the change applies to your subscription, so you can cancel first if you’d rather.
• Downgrades. If your plan lapses, your content stays in your account — you just lose access to paid features until you resubscribe.
• Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable, but if something went wrong — a billing error, or the service failed you — email us and we’ll make it right.

The LectureParse service — its software, design, name, and branding — belongs to us and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service. They don’t transfer any ownership of the service to you, just as your use of it doesn’t transfer any ownership of your content to us.

LectureParse is built on third-party providers — authentication, payments, storage, and AI processing among them (the full list is in our Privacy Policy). Their availability affects ours: if an AI provider has an outage, generation may be temporarily slower or unavailable. We choose reputable providers and design around failures where we can, but we can’t guarantee their uptime.

You can stop using LectureParse and delete your account at any time from Settings. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create risk for us or other users, or where the law requires it. Except where we need to act immediately — serious abuse or legal necessity — we’ll give you notice and a chance to export your content.

Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination — like intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — do survive.

LectureParse is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to keep it fast, accurate, and reliable, but we can’t guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will always be correct. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LectureParse will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or academic outcomes — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $50. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes, we’ll notify you by email or in the app before they take effect — continuing to use LectureParse after that means you accept the updated terms. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
